An example of a SELL trade
The same logic in the mirror direction.
Confirm that working downward needs no separate strategy, only a mirrored reading of the structure.
A downtrend: Lower High + Lower Low.
Take GBP/USD, M5. The situation mirrors the previous lesson: the direction changes, the way of thinking does not.
- Context
- — American session, raised volatility
- Structure
- — Downward — two lower lows and a lower high
- Level
- — The pullback up reached the zone the previous fall started from
- Confirmation
- — Two candles with long upper wicks in the zone
- Decision
- — SELL, expiry 10 minutes
- Invalidation
- — A close above the lower high
Because of the raised volatility of the American session the expiry here is shorter than in the previous example: price covers the same distance faster.
Noticed the main difference from the previous lesson? There is none. The same sequence, the same demand for a boundary — and that is the mark of a system that works.
If a sell idea is harder for you to state than a buy, check the statistics of your own trades. Most often it is not the market but a bias, and it costs you half the opportunities.
The usual mistake
Treating downward work as “harder” and skipping half the market because of it. The difficulty is psychological, not technical.
A note from Leon Mercer Academy
Spend a week working only with the structure of the higher timeframe. It is the fastest way to level out a lean in direction.
A practical example
Open the journal and count how many buys and how many sells you recorded over the past week.
If the ratio leans heavily one way while the market structure varied, you have a bias — and it is measured in money.
